Newman Civic Fellowship

The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who are changemakers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact member institutions.

The CC community is invited to nominate students at the end of the first semester each year. Those students will then be invited to submit a personal statement.  Materials will be reviewed by a committee of various campus and community stakeholders prior to the selection of a candidate for institutional nomination the president.

Campus Compact provides fellows with training and resources that nurture their assets and passions and help them develop strategies for social change. The yearlong program, named for Campus Compact founder Frank Newman, includes virtual learning opportunities and networking as part of a national network of engaged student leaders and an optional in-person convening.

CC's Newman Fellow will:

  • Join a national network of approx. 150 active fellows each year
  • Attend an in-person conference (expenses paid by CC)
  • Join monthly virtual events facilitated by the Campus Compact Student Engagement Coordinator
  • Have the opportunity to apply for a Campus Compact Mini Grant ($500-$1500)
  • Submit short reflection at the end of fellowship year
  • Enhance your changemaking abilities

Deadline for nominations 2024-2025 is midnight December 1st, 2023. Nominate a student here.
