Collaborative for Community Engagement

Highlighting two opportunities for the Summer:
Davis Projects for Peace: An initiative for all students at the Davis United World College Scholars Program partner schools to design grassroots summer projects - anywhere in the world - which promote peace and address the root causes of conflict among parties. We encourage applicants to use their creativity to design projects and employ innovative techniques for engaging project participants in ways that focus on conflict resolution, reconciliation, building understanding and breaking down barriers which cause conflict, and finding solutions for resolving conflict and maintaining peace. The process is underway for Summer 2021 but we encourage students to begin thinking about proposals for Summer 2022. More info on the proposal process can be found here.

Peak Inquiry Project: In 2019 the CCE launched the Peak Inquiry Project a program through which community organizations and city departments can submit knowledge- and research-based project ideas to share with CC students, faculty, volunteer teams, and courses. Our goal is to connect campus change-makers to community INQUIRIES - real-world questions, challenges, and problems - of the Pikes PEAK region.

The Collaborative for Community Engagement currently has an active list of projects up on our webpage and are continuously accepting new projects from community. I look forward to meeting with you at Summer in January to share more!

The Quad Innovation Alliance

Zoom link: https://coloradocollege.zoom.us/j/93130411356

The Quad Innovation Alliance is a joint initiative between Colorado College, Pikes Peak Community College, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and supported by the US Air Force Academy (insofar as authorized by federal law*). Students participate in problem-based consulting projects for our community or local organizations. Each project team is comprised of 4-7 interdisciplinary students representing at least 3 of the Quad's partner institutions. Students are given meaningful direction and assistance by professional management staff, and faculty advise with relevant subject matter expertise.

The program offers students opportunities to develop professional experience, technical skills, and leadership abilities in a diverse, professional team environment. Research conducted through the Quad has catalyzed community impact ranging from affordable housing development to business growth. Over half of the companies and organizations who have hired the Quad have committed to additional work, indicating the value these organizations receive from their teams.

The Quad's summer program will likely run between mid-June to mid-July and will be paid (stipend is $1,000). Stay tuned into our website this spring for our summer application.

The Quad is not an organization of the Federal Government and USAFA provides no underwriting or implied endorsement of the activities.

Summer Research & Fellowships

Zoom link: https://coloradocollege.zoom.us/j/96497673737

Each year at CC, over 100 students take part in collaborative research with faculty. Students receive a stipend to allow all selected students to take part in this meaningful high impact practice. Students typically research for a ten week period, but sometimes do for shorter time frames. Faculty identify the students who research with them early in the Spring semester. Come learn how to make yourself a competitive candidate for summer research. Student Opportunities also supports students in pursuing competitive fellowships and institutional grants- drop in to this session to get basic information and make a connection to consider these opportunities as well.
