Peace Corps Prep

Are you interested in global service and leadership after graduation? Are you interested in how to prepare yourself to be a competitive applicant for international community-based fellowships like the Peace Corps?

The Peace Corps Prep Program is an exclusive program offered by a select few liberal arts colleges in the country. In this pathway program jointly administered by the Career Center and the Advising Hub, you will identify your area of global interest while focusing on your skills, coursework, and experiences while at Colorado College. This intentional path documented in Summit will ultimately assist you in becoming a competitive applicant to the Peace Corps as well as other international fellowship programs.

peacecorpsprepThere are seven components to the certificate program:

    • Community Economic Development
  2. A strong base of skill training and service work in the same sector area identified above (at least 50 hours)
  3. Two classes of foreign language proficiency (varies by world region and language)
  4. Intercultural competence (a combination of approved courses & immersive experience)
  5. Leadership experience
  6. Resume based on Peace Corps standards and expectations
  7. Interview preparation using Peace Corps questions

While a Peace Corps Prep certificate does not guarantee acceptance into the Peace Corps, all students who successfully complete the program demonstrate a competitive edge when applying to the Peace Corps or other competitive international service, leadership, or fellowship programs after graduation. The Peace Corps Prep certificate is open to all CC students, regardless of year or U.S. citizenship status.
