Critical Social Foundations of Education Concentration

A concentration in Critical Social Foundations of Education requires coursework on critical theories as they relate to the social, philosophical, historical, and political spheres of education. Through social inquiry, critical analysis, humanistic principles, and mindful community engagement, students in this concentration examine the central position educational systems occupy in civic functioning. This concentration is ideal for students interested in education policy, educational leadership, advocacy, research, a broad array of non-profit organizations, and related graduate-level studies. The advanced research course must be informed by coursework in the concentration and the internship experience. Additional coursework is required for teacher licensure.
