Teacher Preparation (Licensure, Master of Arts in Teaching) Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply inclusive curriculum and instructional practices in their discipline and grade level

  • Apply disciplinary literacy strategies throughout the curriculum
  • Integrate 21st century STEAM principles into their disciplinary curriculum

Dyslexia Specialist Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn the structures of written English and the five components of reading
  • Utilize instructional strategies and methods such as simultaneous multisensory, systematic, cumulative, direct instruction, diagnostic teaching, synthetic and analytic instruction
  • Engage in progress monitoring for accuracy and fluency
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of dyslexia, related written-language disorders, and of the identification of specific learning differences
  • Keep abreast of current advances within one's field and related areas
  • Through the capstone, identify and access professionally relevant resources, synthesize existing knowledge, and apply knowledge to professional tasks
