Logo and Usage

Colorado College’s marks are foundational elements of our visual identity, representing who we are with distinction. This section outlines when and how to use our logos and symbols, ensuring they appear accurately across digital and print applications. Use these standards and guardrails to maintain alignment and strengthen recognition across all communications.

Logo composition

The Colorado College logo consists of two elements: the mark and the wordmark. The full brandmark execution should be used whenever possible. However, if using the full execution is not possible, an approved brandmark lockup can be used. The use of only these approved formats ensures the CC brand is consistent and cohesive.

How we use our logo is crucial in keeping the CC brand consistent and professional. Proper usage also builds brand equity and recognition. The horizontal, full brandmark uses the CC mark in Tiger Gold and the wordmark in black. The brandmark should be used when the background color or image is light enough to allow full readability of both the mark and wordmark.

Alternate brandmarks

Alternative brandmarks should never take the place of the full brandmark. However, factors like background color and available space are reasons to use alternate logos. Alternate logos are available in two-color and single- color in black, white, and Tiger Gold, as well as a vertical format in the same colors. The CC mark should never be black in a two-color format—only a single-color option.

The CC mark, as a standalone, is allowed to be used only in executions where size parameters are extremely limited, and the full logo cannot fit without interfering with readability. Examples include social media profiles, web banner ads, and small-scale swag like stickers.

To maintain integrity, consistency, and readability, the logo must be presented clearly and legibly. The logo must always be reproduced from the approved digital files provided on the Logo Kits page

Secondary logos

A secondary logo is an approved execution of the CC logo with an accompanying department, office, or division name. These logos are custom-created by OCM to ensure that they adhere to CC’s brand guidelines. Like the primary logo, each secondary logo is available in two-color, one-color, horizontal, and vertical executions. Secondary logos can be downloaded from the Logo Kits page.

Limited use marks

The College seal is reserved for use by academic departments, the Office of the President, and for academic events and documents like Commencement and diplomas. The FAC logo is reserved for use by the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, including the FAC Museum, performing arts theatre company, and Bemis School of Art. Both of these logos are managed by OCM.

The Tiger logo is reserved for use by the Department of Athletics, sports teams, and all athletics-related communications. Other areas of campus have limited use of the Tiger logo for spirit products and apparel. The Tiger logo is managed by CC Athletics.
