Summer 2026 Applications are Now Open!
![]() |
The Mathematical and Computational Undergraduate Research Experience (MCURE) is an eight-week research experience held at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. |
MCURE provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to work on accessible, open-ended, and meaningful research problems in mathematics, computer science, and statistics with faculty from diverse research backgrounds. Participants will also engage in professional development activities, build community in the beautiful Rocky Mountain region, and present their research at a national conference following the summer program.
MCURE is committed to creating an inclusive research environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel welcomed, supported, and valued. Students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and the Rocky Mountain region are especially encouraged to apply.
Summer 2026 (June 8-July 31): Math, Democracy, and Representation
Students will study ways that mathematics and computational methods can be applied to more deeply understand questions of fairness and representation in voting and democracy. We invite applications from currently enrolled undergraduate students who have taken a course in Linear Algebra. Experience with discrete math, graphs, and/or Python programming is a plus.
Eligibility: Current undergraduate students who have taken a course in Linear Algebra.
Stipend: $600/week plus room and board and travel to Colorado College
