Housing Exemption Request Process
Live-On Requirement
Some students may qualify to live off campus. If you believe you meet one of the exemption criteria below, you must submit a Housing Exemption Request through the Housing Portal.
Important Dates
- Process Opens: December 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
- Priority Review Deadline: March 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
- Final Deadline: April 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
- Requests submitted after the final deadline will not be considered.
Who Can Apply for an Exemption?
You may request an exemption if you meet one of the following:
- You are married or in a same-sex domestic partnership (verified by the College).
- You have dependent children living with you.
- You will live with your parent(s) or legal guardian in Colorado Springs.
- You are 23 years of age or older.
- You are a veteran.
- You have another exceptional circumstance (must be documented).
Note: Using the “Other” option requires a clear explanation and documentation. It should be used only for situations not covered above.
How to Submit a Request
- Log in to the Housing Portal and submit the Housing Exemption Request form.
- Provide all required documentation.
- Documentation is not required for age or veteran status.
- Once submitted, Housing will begin reviewing your request.
What Happens Next?
Review Timeline (Initial Submission)
Housing staff will review your request within 72 business hours.
Possible Outcomes
Approved:
Your exemption is granted.
Denied:
You will receive an explanation for the decision.
Pending – More Information Needed:
You must submit the requested information within 48 business hours.
- If you do not respond, your request will be automatically denied.
- After you submit the additional information, a final decision will be made within 72 business hours.
Special Requests
- Disability-related requests are reviewed by Accessibility Resources.
- Spiritual or religious requests are reviewed by the Chaplain’s Office.
- Housing will wait for the above offices to issue a decision before finalizing your request.
Appeal Process
If your request is denied, you may submit one appeal in writing from your CC email to your denied email.
- Your appeal will be reviewed by the Exemption Committee, which includes staff from offices related to your request.
- You will receive a final decision within 10 business days.
- All appeal decisions are final.

- Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.
- You must provide all information and documentation by the deadlines.
