NOTE: Colorado College is responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments. Summer Block A & B classes are being delivered via distance learning. On-campus admission visits are canceled until further notice. See Coronavirus Updates & Resources here.
About us: The Outreach Committee is tasked with maintaining and improving the relationship between the students of Colorado College and the greater Colorado Springs community. We keep tabs on city government by attending council meetings, speaking with members of council, and attending a variety of community events. We encourage Colorado College students to get involved in the local community in whatever way they see fit, whether it’s as an artist, community organizer, member of a faith community or other identity group, athlete, mentor, etc. In this work, we partner closely with the Collaborative for Community Engagement. We are also responsible for maintaining and improving relationships with other student governments in the city and state. To that end, we have led the push to create the Colorado Student Government Coalition, a democratic body made of up student representatives from across the state. Finally, we appoint students to Campus Committees (Curriculum Executive Committee, Budget Committee, etc.). Applications for next year’s committees will go out 7th block, so stay tuned!
What we are working on now:
Planning the first meeting of the Colorado Student Government Coalition (CSGC)--we spent the summer working with other student governments around Colorado to write a Constitutionfor the CSGC and recruiting other schools to join. Now it’s time to get to work, using our new collective power to advocate for student interests on a statewide level. We want to hear from you, the CC student body, about what issues you want the CSGC to focus on.
Helping local high school students with FAFSA and the college application process--we are working to plan a number of events in local schools in which CC students help local students figure out the intricacies of applying for FAFSA, and to college in general.
Connecting the CC art scene to the COS art scene--we hope to make these connections through an arts festival some time this year.
