Housing Accommodations

As a residential college, Colorado College strongly believes that life in our residence halls is a central part of the holistic learning experience that characterizes a liberal arts education. Generally, all students live on campus for the first three years of their enrollment at CC. Our students live in a diverse neighborhood of traditional residence halls, historic mansions, and modern apartments that offer a variety of housing options. Each community is geared toward helping students create an experience that is appropriate for their year in college. Please refer to the Office of Housing & Residential Experience website for a full description of the residential program.

The Offices of Accessibility Resources and Housing & Residential Experience work together to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to the college's housing resources. The Accessibility Resources staff is available to meet with students to talk about specific requests for housing accommodations (e.g., wheelchair accessible room, single room, access to a kitchen or single-use bathroom, visual alarm). We carefully consider each request for accommodation on a case-by-case basis.

In addition to applying for housing through the Office of Housing & Residential Experience, which includes completion of the online Housing Agreement, students requesting housing accommodations should follow the appropriate process listed below.

  • Complete the Accessibility Resources "Request for Accommodations and Services" form. If this form has not been submitted previously, please do this as soon as possible after committing to attend Colorado College.
  • Contact Accessibility Resources to discuss requested accommodations, preferably by June 30 for fall start students and November 1 for spring start students.
  • Submit documentation of disability. Students should contact Accessibility Resources for guidance on the documentation needed for their individual situations. General information can be found on the Documentation Guidelines webpage.
  • Accessibility Resources will follow up with students regarding their housing requests after the "Request for Accommodations and Services" form and documentation have been submitted.
  • Students who are not granted a disability-related housing accommodation or who choose to not accept an accommodation will be assigned a room by Colorado College Housing & Residential Experience staff.
  • Students who request and are approved for a housing accommodation after room assignments have already been completed may be placed on a waitlist until the appropriate room becomes available.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Please refer to the Office of Housing & Residential Experience website for important dates and deadlines for the room selection process.
  • Students who have received housing accommodations in the past must submit a new request each year to be reconsidered.
  • Single rooms based on a student's desire to have a "quiet, undisturbed place to study or relax" will be provided only in unusual circumstances. By virtue of the shared facilities, resources, and the number of people living under one roof in the residence halls, a single room does not necessarily provide a quieter, more distraction-free space than a standard shared room.
  • Requests to move off-campus early are rarely granted, as most students can be accommodated through the variety of on-campus housing options available at Colorado College.
  • To appeal a housing accommodation decision, please follow the Accessibility Resources Appeal Policy and Procedures.

For additional information on housing accommodations or other accommodations and services for students with disabilities, please contact Accessibility Resources.
