Wet Ink is a space for sharing ideas, highlighting accomplishments, and building a stronger, more connected arts community. Our newsletter is dedicated to celebrating the people and practices that make up the vibrant world of art, architecture, design, and museum studies at CC— bringing together students, staff, faculty, alumni, and anyone who shares our enthusiasm for creative endeavors.

Wet Ink Extras - Vol 2

Art of the Boat

In Block 7, 2026, students traveled to remote southeastern Utah to the Yestermorrow Design School campus, where they lived and worked along the San Juan River while exploring the concept of building a wooden MacKenzie drift boat as both a printable matrix and a functional whitewater craft. The course engaged students in every phase of the process, from design development and hull carving to full boat construction, culminating in a multi-day river journey using the boats they built during the class.

Big Ink Visits CC

CC hosted Big Ink during Block 7, 2026! Artist Lyell Castonguay visited campus with his massive mobile press, The Big Tuna, inviting students to take part in the collaborative woodblock printing process. Participants carved individual blocks and later assembled them into a single, cohesive print, demonstrating the power of collective making and hands-on craftsmanship.
