Officer Marty Toland graduated with a bachelor degree in criminal justice and public administration from Western Michigan University in 1989. He was with the Farmington Police Department in Michigan from 1992 – 1994. Officer Toland has been with the Colorado Springs Police Department since 1997. During his time with the Colorado Springs Police Department, he worked as a detective in the Juvenile Offender Unit under the Major Crimes division from 2002-2007. Officer Toland has since worked in the patrol division as a training officer for new recruits. Officer Toland is trained in Crises Intervention and is a member of the Colorado Springs Police Department peer support team, which is under the supervision of the staff psychologist. Officer Toland has also served as a subject matter expert in domestic violence situations. Officer Toland has attended numerous trainings to include safe schools, child abuse, and elder abuse.
