Support for WES Scholars

WES Scholars are eligible to apply for additional "Special Purpose Funding" to complement their academic and career goals. WES scholars have been able to have remarkable experiences with the help of this additional funding, and we encourage you to apply!

WES SPECIAL PURPOSE FUNDS

All WES Scholars are eligible to apply for Special Purpose Funds for use in 2025-26. Seniors need to use the funds prior to graduating.

Funds can be used to support ANY activity with an academic purpose, including seminar or conference attendance, off-campus study opportunities, and other enrichment activities. Requests are expected to range from a few hundred dollars to $1,500. Feel free to discuss with WES (see contact below)

The WES Scholarship Committee will accept proposals on an ongoing basis.

The application requests a brief explanation of how these funds are related to your studies at CC. We ask that you summarize how the use of the requested funds will impact your life and time at CC.

Please note that this funding is reserved for academic use and cannot be applied to current debts or loans. It may also be limited by the terms of your other financial aid award(s). Libby Fletcher, in the CC Financial Aid Office, stands ready to help you understand the amount of financial assistance that CC can provide for the course or project, if any, and what costs you might be required to pay. Before you draft your budget, please contact Ms. Fletcher at lfletcher@coloradocollege.edu to make an appointment to review your grant application.

To learn more, contact Judy DeGroot, Chair of the WES Scholarship Committee, judykat1@msn.com.

The Sarah Healy Initiative

Sarah Healy moved to Colorado Springs in 2013 and was a long-serving and beloved member of the WES Board. She believed strongly in serving one’s community. After she passed away in October 2021 from multiple myeloma, a fellow WES supporter donated funds to support the Sarah Healy Initiative, which will be awarded in the amount of $500 annually.

WES Scholars may apply for a Sarah Healy Grant Supplement as part of their application for Special Purpose Funding. The WES Board of Directors will review Special Purpose Grant applications received during this period, and award one $500 supplement to the project that most closely aligns with Sarah Healy’s community-minded spirit at the Annual Meeting in April.

For more information, please contact WES President Tess Powers, tpowers@coloradocollege.edu.
