Bridge Scholars Program Update
You have just received the all-college communication explaining that the Bridge Scholars Program will now be online. Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we must be responsive to information and trends and adapt our programming to prioritize public health and well-being.

Our faculty have been working through the summer to prepare for the possibility that these courses might have to be online, and therefore all six courses of the Bridge Scholars Program will continue to be offered online, taught by the same professors. The courses will continue to carry 0.5 block of credit and will have both synchronous and asynchronous instruction during the originally scheduled dates (starting August 3) and will have built-in flexibility so that you can finish the class while you get ready to move to campus. You will have ample opportunities to meet and get to know your professors, mentors, and fellow students in your class. Peer mentoring and other programming will also be continued online. Your instructors and mentors will be sensitive to your personal needs as well as to your technological needs during this time of transition. We recognize life is more complicated than usual right now, and we will respond to that complexity as humans do: with compassion, empathy and collective problem-solving.

Soon, a sign-up sheet for move-in - now scheduled for August 13-17 -will be sent to you. Please keep an eye out for that email and sign up for a time slot.

We understand that you may not have a dedicated computer to use for your studies. If you normally share a computer with others, or do not have access to a reliable computer for your online course, the college will provide loaner laptops for you to engage in remote learning. Please fill out this form if you will need a loaner laptop, and we will mail you one.

Additionally, if your plans have changed and you no longer intend on participating in the Bridge Scholars Program, please fill out this form (same form as above, you do not need to submit it twice) so that we can have an accurate count of participants moving forward.

We want to take the opportunity to thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this unprecedented time, navigating this new world has presented unique challenges and barriers but you have persisted through with resilience and humility. Our mentors, faculty, and staff are going to do our best to provide you with the same level of engagement, enthusiasm, and community online as we would have had in person. We look forward to welcoming you to campus in the coming weeks.

We imagine you have some questions surrounding this decision, our team has outlined some anticipated questions and formulated responses on who, what, and how you might receive guidance moving forward. You can find the answers to your questions at the Bridge Scholars FAQ page.

If you have more specific questions that aren't answered through the links provided, feel free to contact our Bridge Scholars Program Coordinator, Belinda Barrientos, at bbarrientos@coloradocollege.edu.

As always, GO TIGERS!

Sincerely,
