The Work of the College is how we turn the vision of Claim Our Space into concrete progress and momentum. Advancing our strategic objectives takes many forms across the College, from the day-to-day work that sustains our operations to divisional priority initiatives that move the needle. Together, these efforts advance Colorado College toward the future we have outlined.

Advancing the College

Every academic and administrative division contributes to the College’s future. Divisional strategic plans translate the priorities of Claim Our Space into the specific work, goals, and measures of progress that guide each area of the College.

These plans reflect the expertise and priorities of the people closest to the work. Together, they create a coordinated, bottom-up approach to implementation—connecting the College’s shared direction with the day-to-day decisions and long-term goals of our divisions.

These plans are not static. They’re living tools for action, collaboration, and accountability, updated every six months to help divisions track progress and stay aligned with the College’s strategic priorities.

How We Work: The Mechanics

Operational Governance

Some of the challenges facing Colorado College—and the opportunities ahead—extend across divisions and cannot be addressed by any one area of the College alone.

Operational Governance creates structures for collaboration, decision-making, and accountability that bring people together around shared institutional priorities. Through standing and time-bound working groups, colleagues from across the College contribute expertise, examine complex challenges, develop recommendations, and help move work forward.

It also creates feedback loops between institutional priorities and the work happening across campus, helping Colorado College make more informed decisions, reduce unnecessary complexity, and adapt as conditions change.
