Science at CC is uniquely liberating. Freer, more connected, more exploratory, more human, and more curiosity-driven than highly rigid research environments. Here, we ask different questions. Simply because we can.

We are realizing a new vision for scientific exploration and education at CC—one that breaks down barriers, centers collaboration across disciplines, uniquely develops student potential in immersive settings, and connects learning to the exploration of broader societal challenges.

We are building for the questions not yet asked. And we are producing the graduates the world needs now.

The Vision

The way students learn science is changing—and so is the world they are preparing to lead.

The science initiative is much more than a building. It’s student development for a new world, and for the outcomes that the world needs now. Interdisciplinary. Inquisitive. Immersive. Undeniably impactful. commitment to hands-on learning, close collaboration between students and faculty, and the kind of intellectual curiosity that defines a liberal arts education.

Through construction of a new 115,000 sq. ft science building on the site of Olin Hall, and strategic renovations of three other buildings (Palmer Hall, Tutt Science Center, and Barnes Science Center), this initiative addresses infrastructure needs while creating adaptable, future-focused spaces where students can explore boldly, collaborate deeply, and prepare to lead in areas like climate science, public health, and emerging technologies.

This is about leveraging our ability to make CC the option of choice for scientific study powered by all the benefits a liberal arts education provides and empowering bolder questions and outcomes.

The Impact

Together, the new building and renovations will:

  • increase and modernize lab spaces and equipment
  • expand capacity for high-demand courses
  • meet new standards for teaching and research

To:

  • strengthen CC’s ability to attract exceptional students and faculty
  • advance our nationally-recognized faculty and student research
  • equip graduates to drive the discoveries that will define the next century

Why it matters now

100% of students take science as a core part of their education at CC.

42%

of CC students major in science or interdisciplinary science fields.

CC is
