Overview

The Physics Department offers a variety of astronomy courses ranging from introductory astronomy (PC133), to adjuncts in which you can learn to use the Phipps Observatory (PC132), to PC363 Observational Astronomy, an advanced course that teaches students how to acquire, reduce, and analyze astronomical data. If you are interested in a more advanced study of astronomy, the Physics Department at Colorado College offers an Astrophysics-based track, which enables a student to take the classes necessary to continue on to graduate school in astrophysics.

Observatory Use

The observatory is only available to students who have been certified to use it. If you are interested in using the observatory or any of its resources, you will need to take an astronomy course that will certify you to use the telescope. These courses are PC132 and PC362.

If you are certified to use the telescope and would like to schedule a time to use the observatory, please contact the Physics Department Paraprofessional.
