Mohrman Theatre Lighting Policy
Applicable to Third-Party Lighting Designers and Sponsoring Departments
Purpose
This policy establishes the terms and conditions under which third-party lighting designers and their teams may access and modify the lighting systems in the Kathryn Mohrman Theater at Colorado College. It also defines safety requirements, liability responsibilities, and restoration obligations for all work conducted within the theater.
Authorized Use and Scope
Temporary alterations to the lighting system are permitted exclusively for the purposes of the approved project. All modifications must be approved by the Colorado College Audio Visual (AV) Department in advance. Use is limited to the specified dates and scope of work.
Safety Compliance Requirements
All third-party users and sponsoring departments must comply with the following:
- Adherence to theater safety protocols and all applicable laws and regulations.
- If the designer is not a licensed lighting professional, a Colorado College AV Technician must be present during any rigging, mounting, or rebalancing of each line set.
- The AV Department must receive a full work schedule in advance when technician oversight is required.
- AV Technicians are available during standard hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Labor charges will apply for after-hours support.
- All work must follow ANSI E1.47 standards and be performed in a safe, professional manner.
Restoration Requirement
All modified lighting systems must be returned to their original condition prior to the next scheduled event in the Kathryn Mohrman Theater.
- This includes restoring all fixtures to their original position, settings, and focus.
- Failure to complete restoration will result in labor charges to the sponsoring department for the time required by AV staff to restore the system.
