Online placement testing in French, Spanish, and German
French, Spanish, and German use the BYU WebCAPE exam as their placement test. The WebCAPE is an adaptive test. If you answer a question correctly, you will get a harder question the next time. If you answer a question incorrectly, you will get an easier question. This means that the test can take anywhere from five minutes to 45 minutes, with an average time of 20 minutes. The test can be taken at any time, but we encourse students to take it the summer before they arrive at Colorado College. If the WebCAPE score is more than a year old, the student has the option to retake the test. Students must enroll in the appropirate language level, as determined by the placement test results. Students may not place themselves, or change their placement without departmental approval.
