Pre-Health Ambassadors

Thank you for your interest in the Pre-Health Professions Peer Mentor program! This program strives to connect 3rd and 4th year pre-health students interested in a variety of professional paths to aspiring 1st and 2nd year students. Through our snapshots, we hope you see that there is no “right” way to be a pre-health student! To connect with a peer mentor, please review the bios and reach out to the email provided with your name, year, and goals to address.

Our ambassadors offer invaluable support to the Office of Admission. From helping greet visitors at the front desk of Cutler Hall to providing campus tours to supporting us with campus events, our ambassadors are often the first face that you'll encounter when arriving at CC.

Hearing from current students is the best way to learn about life on the Block Plan. We encourage you to email them with your questions!

What is your name, year, major and minor (if you have one), and your pre-health track of interest?
I’m Jennifer Aggrey, a first-generation college student studying neuroscience with minors in biochemistry and Africana studies, on the pre-med track.
What are some of the things you are involved in at CC?
I’m a student researcher with Anschutz Medical Campus at CU, co-founder of CASU, and co-chair of PANSOCC. I've also done research at Mizzou and CC in neuroscience and physics respectively. I'm also proud to say I've maintained non-STEM commitments despite being pre-med, which includes my work in non-profit.
What is a piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?
If I could give my younger self advice, I’d say to step out of my comfort zone more and take more risks.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
Some fun facts about me: I can’t snap!

I went on a month-long trip canoeing across Minnesota :)

What is a piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?
I was planning to go pre-PT for the first two years of my college career, and I was very nervous and felt unprepared about making the transition to pre-med. There are so many ways to get to each professional field and try to trust that it will all become clear.

What is a piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?
One piece of advice that I would give to my younger self, and advice that I still have to remind myself of today, is that the process is a marathon, not a sprint. Frankly, the exact plan that you have envisioned to reach your goals is likely not the route you will end up taking to get there. That does not mean that your goals are unattainable, it just means that things will change, and it is important to move with the punches and just take things one step at a time.

What is a piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?
I would tell myself to stop focusing too much on what I thought was the “end goal”. I thought I had a very clear idea of what I wanted and how to get there, and this led to significant anxiety, loneliness, and imposter syndrome. Enjoy the journey!
