Cross-cultural community health initiatives in the realm of STIs prevention and prep programs

This project makes cross-cultural comparisons of PREP-based (pre-exposure prophylaxis, a daily medicine that prevents HIV infection in uninfected individuals) community-health programs between the US, Peru, and Ecuador. Understanding the limitations and potentialities of the PREP program in said places helps create a scion-culturally contextual guide for community health workers to talk about PREP and promote inclusive and stratified public health programs. The project has two direct goals: 1) conduct academic research on the strategies implemented by local community health networks to promote sexual education, prevent HIV, and transfer national policies to community-oriented initiatives, and 2) use research findings to make a guide that contributes to the research of HIV and Global Health concerning PREP program.
