Study Abroad in Germany! Dr. Heidi R. Lewis Presents FG214/GR220/RM214: "Hidden Spaces, Hidden Narratives: Intersectionality Studies in Berlin"

The Feminist and Gender Studies Program at Colorado College is excited to share a study abroad opportunity with Dr. Heidi R. Lewis! Dr. Lewis will be teaching FG214/GR220/RM214: "Hidden Spaces, Hidden Narratives: Intersectionality Studies in Berlin" in Berlin, Germany from June 6 to June 24, 2022.

This course will examine how the identities of Black Germans, Jewish Germans, Turkish Germans, migrants, refugees, victims of Neo-Nazi terrorism and police brutality, and LGBTQ+ folks, among other oppressed communities, are constructed and how these constructions are predicated on racism, heterosexism, colonialism, imperialism, and other forms of oppression. Additionally, the course will examine how these communities resist, reject, revise, and reproduce these narratives as they construct their own subjectivities.

Applications for this study abroad opportunity must be submitted on SUMMIT by the first Friday of Block 4 (December 3, 2021). Before completing the application, you must view the course webinar and review the course FAQs. Students can also learn more about this opportunity during the Study Abroad Fair on November 3, 2021, from 12:00pm - 2:00pm in the Worner Center on campus.
