Fry Advances to 1500 Final at NCAA Championships

Colorado College rising senior Josh Fry advanced to the final of the 1500-meter run at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Meet Thursday in Greensboro, N.C.

Fry finished fourth in the second heat of preliminaries with a time of 3:51.44, the fourth-best time among the 17 runners in the event. He will be one of 12 runners in the final at 10:35 a.m. (MT), on Saturday, May 29.

"Josh found himself in a fast prelim, but he displayed a lot of patience by moving up gradually through the field," interim head coach Alex Nichols said. "He positioned himself right where he needed to be to secure a qualifying spot. (Assistant) Coach Dan Castaneda and I are both very happy to see him make the final and look forward to seeing what happens in the next two days."

Fry is the first CC male to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since Henry Baldwin in the high jump in 2019, and the first on the track since Andrew Wagner and Jackson Brainerd each qualified for the 1500 in 2011.

The first Tiger ever to qualify for the NCAA meet in two separate events, Fry will run in the 800-meter prelims on Friday, May 28 beginning at 2:15 p.m. (MT).
