Neal is the showrunner, an executive producer, and a writer for "Designated Survivor" on Netflix. He was previously showrunner, executive producer, and writer for "Under the Dome," CBS (2013-2016); showrunner, executive producer, and writer for "A Gifted Man," CBS (2011-12); showrunner, executive producer, and writer for "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit," NBC (2000-2011); and executive producer and writer for "ER," NBC (1994-2000). Neal is an adjunct professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, and a lecturer on Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He has published numerous articles on the depiction of health and healthcare providers on television, and on obesity and the soda industry. Neal is a frequent guest speaker/ lecturer, and was elected director of the Harvard Alumni Association. Other board memberships include: Board of Fellows, Harvard Medical School; board member, mothers2mothers; and board member, ONE Archives Foundation. Neal received an honorary degree, Doctor of Laws, from CC in 2000, and received an honorary degree, Doctor of Laws, from Villa Julie College in 2006. He was CC's 2005 Commencement speaker and Commencement speaker at Harvard Medical School in May 2018.
