Elbert House

Elbert House is the Italian Language immersion house, which serves as a residence for 13 - 20 students interested in improving their understanding of both Italian language and culture. The house has a full kitchen and living room. Events are organized by the Cultural Program Coordinators in liaison with the Italian Department.

Language House Cultural Program Coordinators (CPCs) are staff members who live in a language house. In addition to teaching adjunct language courses, CPCs strive to create a sense of community within their houses and provide an opportunity for the students living in the houses to be immersed in the language and culture. The CPCs plan cultural as well as community-building programs

Italian CPC 2024-25 Maria Cristina Lanzi

My name is Cristina; I come from central Italy, and I'm the Italian CPC for this academic year.

I already worked at Colorado College some years ago, but I feel that each new experience brings its own maturity and vision, and it is an honor for me to embark on this new adventure with the CC community.

I've been teaching languages for 13 years, and I really like working with students of all ages! Helping each student advance in all aspects of their development—academic, social, and linguistic—is a daily challenge that I am always honored to accept. Here at CC, I want to foster a learning community that encourages progress in a nice and cheerful atmosphere.

In my personal life, I've been married for eight years to a wonderful man who supports my ambitions even when they are an ocean apart! I consider myself curious, tenacious, and, at times, insecure. I am passionate about the United States and its culture, and in my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming and watching TV series.
