Our CC: Safeguarding the CC Experience in a Shifting Landscape
What’s Happening
Federal lawmakers are considering policy changes that could significantly impact the financial model of colleges and universities nationwide — and small, private colleges like Colorado College may be disproportionately affected.
Congress is considering a sharp increase in the federal tax on endowment earnings, which make up 20 percent of CC’s annual operating budget and 40 percent of our annual financial aid budget.
Lawmakers are also proposing legislation that could impact colleges’ ability to issue tax-exempt debt, as well as reductions to federal financial aid and research funding — all of which would have immediate and lasting consequences for CC’s budget and impact current and future students.
