Community-Engaged Learning: Cities, Sustainability, and Environmental Justice – EV/PS 272

This field study course, taught by Profosser Corina McKendry, Cities, Sustainability and Environmental Justice examines the relationship between urban development and environmental justice in the United States, with a particular emphasis on the role of urban planning practices in creating and maintaining the disproportionate exposure to pollution and the unequal access to environmental amenities faced by communities of color. It also investigates the political processes through which municipal sustainability efforts are being used by activists and city officials to create solutions to environmental and social injustices in urban areas.
