Spatial Literacy Center
Mission & Vision
Aim: Empower Spatial Inquiry

Mission: The Spatial Literacy Center cultivates spatial thinking as a fundamental habit of mind across the liberal arts. Through spatial reasoning, mapping, visualization, and geospatial technologies, we empower the Colorado College community to explore complex questions, uncover meaningful patterns, tell stories visually, and transform inquiry into understanding and action.
Vision: The Spatial Literacy Center envisions a Colorado College where spatial literacy is recognized as an essential liberal arts competency, and where every person, regardless of discipline or prior experience, feels empowered to explore, visualize, and communicate ideas through spatial thinking. The Center serves as a welcoming hub where tools and disciplines such as geographic information systems and remote sensing become pathways for discovery, creativity, and positive impact from local to global scales. Through exposure to real-world geospatial data, workflows, and technologies, students develop professional skills, explore career pathways, and contribute to a vibrant and collaborative spatial community across campus.
