The Vision
The way students learn science is changing—and so is the world they are preparing to lead.
The science initiative is much more than a building. It’s student development for a new world, and for the outcomes that the world needs now. Interdisciplinary. Inquisitive. Immersive. Undeniably impactful. A commitment to hands-on learning, close collaboration between students and faculty, and the kind of intellectual curiosity that defines a liberal arts education.
Through construction of a new 115,000 sq. ft science building on the site of Olin Hall, and strategic renovations of three other buildings (Palmer Hall, Tutt Science Center, and Barnes Science Center), this initiative addresses infrastructure needs while creating adaptable, future-focused spaces where students can explore boldly, collaborate deeply, and prepare to lead in areas like climate science, public health, and emerging technologies.
This is about leveraging our ability to make CC the option of choice for scientific study powered by all the benefits a liberal arts education provides and empowering bolder questions and outcomes.
