Colorado College is committed to providing competitive and comprehensive benefits that support the health, financial security, and overall well‑being of our employees and their families. Leave Administration & Voluntary Life Insurance Changes:

Sun Life Logo

Effective July 1, 2026, Colorado College will transition leave administration and life insurance services from The Hartford to Sun Life. Sun Life will administer all new leave claims beginning July 1, while existing claims will continue and be completed under The Hartford. This change reflects employee feedback and the College’s ongoing commitment to improving service quality, responsiveness, and support throughout the leave process.

This transition introduces a redesigned life insurance offering with simplified coverage options and updated enrollment requirements. Optional life insurance will no longer be based on salary multiples and will instead be available in fixed dollar increments, allowing employees greater flexibility to choose coverage that best fits their needs.

Important Note: Because the life insurance plan design has changed, enrollment will not be passive, employees must actively elect Optional Life Insurance coverage during Open Enrollment if they wish to be covered. If you do not actively elect or reelect Optional Life Insurance during Open Enrollment, your coverage will be terminated.

Additionally, Colorado College will begin sharing the Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave (FAMLI) premium with employees, a change that provides a tax advantage by allowing a portion of leave benefits to be received tax‑free when leave is used.
