Senior Associate Dean of DEIA and Faculty Development

Peony Fhagen is senior associate dean for equity, inclusion, and faculty development. She also serves as director of the Crown Faculty Center and the Bridge Scholars Program (BSP). Peony uses a feminist, antiracist, and social justice approach as an academic affairs administrator supporting faculty and academic staff in using a DEIA lens in their work. She organizes, develops, facilitates, and implements professional development programming for faculty and academic staff. She also provides individual consultation and thought partnership for the entire academic division on matters of DEIA. In addition, as director of BSP she supports bridge scholars, BSP faculty mentors, and BSP peer mentors. Finally, Peony has her doctorate in developmental psychology with a focus on the subfield of multicultural psychology and teaches courses on racial identity development and people’s oppressive behaviors. Her scholarship centers on racial identity in the context of educational settings, liberal arts schools, and anti-oppressive pedagogies.
