IndiaLICS
The Fourth Conference of the India Network for Learning, Innovation and Competence-Building Systems (IndiaLICS)
Under the theme
Innovation and Sustainability: Lessons from the History of India and Hopes for the Future
will be held on June 9-10, 2016
at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado USA
IndiaLICS is a regional initiative as part of the GlobeLICS network, aimed at connecting scholars who use the concepts of learning, innovation, and competence-building systems as their analytical framework. The network is open and diverse in terms of disciplines, perspectives and research tools, but focuses on issues faced by the global South.
This conference will be a multidisciplinary celebration of international scholarship about India, bringing noted scholars from India and around the world into conversation. The workshop will involve a traditional conference, cultural activities, and housing for many participants on campus to enable community-building.
Themes for the conference include, but are not strictly limited to:
- Innovation systems; invention
- Intellectual property
- Technology transfer; knowledge exchange
- Competence- and capacity-building
- Research and development
- Joint ventures; strategic alliances
- Risk management
- Productivity and employment
- Training and education
- Climate change
- Pollution and waste management
- Alternative energy
- Eco- or green-technologies
- Policy analysis
- Cultural sensitivities or implications
- Natural resource management
- Community involvement
- Intercultural communication
- Social entrepreneurship
Proposals on other topics will be considered, but may receive lower priority.
Attendance at most events is open to all, but presentations will be made by invitation only.
Invitation to complete a final paper for the conference volume, which we aim to publish via a major academic press, will further depend on participation in the conference and will be competitive based on quality of content and theme.
Registration is free. On-site housing and meals will be available for roughly $250, payable online in January. Scholarships will be available for both on-site costs and travel reimbursement, with priority given to scholars from less developed nations and graduate students. Please, use the links below to register.
Workshop Presenters' Registration
Presentations, and the volume to follow, may include quantitative or qualitative analysis, but will be either scholarly or applied in nature. We hope to engage practitioners who might share their examples, alongside scholars with subject matter expertise. While expertise may be broadly thematic, all presentations and papers must explicitly address the Indian experience or offer advice for India's future.
Please address all inquiries, and send all proposals or expressions of interest, to conference chair/organizer Dan Johnson djohnson@ColoradoCollege.edu.
