CC in Italy Program

The CC in Italy program is designed to provide students with an understanding of Italy through its regional diversity, cultures, cuisine, and arts. To do this we will visit several regions of Italy during our 2-month stay.

BLOCK 7

We are based in San Marino (a 61 square km independent nation, surrounded by Italy on all sides), where students will study with faculty from the Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino. Students will experience life in the small city-state of 34,000 residents with scheduled excursions to Bologna, Florence, and Venice as part of their introduction to central and northern Italy. 

BLOCK "BREAK"

Rather than a traditional Block Break, students will spend the time between the two courses on a 6-day trip to Rome to explore the Italian capital, including a visit to another "micro-nation", Vatican City. 

BLOCK 8

Block 8 begins in Rome, before moving to the coastal states of Abruzzo and Apulia (Puglia). Mountains, coast, small towns and the Adriatic coast at the heel of Italy's boot will present a very different Italy than the northern and central regions and city visits in Block 7.  

Block 7: IT320 - Italy Unveiled: A Journey through Art, Culture, and History

This course, led in English by faculty of the Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino (University of San Marino), will combine the backdrop of the tiny nation of San Marino, excursions to Bologna, Venice, and Florence, and lectures on a variety of aspects of identity, history and the arts to explore the complex and diverse cultures of modern-day Italy.

Block 8: IT320 - Gusto: Italian Food as Art, Culture, and Tradition

The second block will focus on the cuisine(s) of Italy. Led by Prof. Amanda Minervini, the program will include cooking lessons and a week long immersion in the kitchen of a renowned chef based in Abruzzo. The course will begin Rome and also explore Puglia in Italy's southern Adriatic coast as it investigates how food culture(s) exist in Italy as elements of art, culture,and tradition.

The Spring 2027 CC in Italy program is OPEN FOR NEW APPLICATIONS through October 1.

Late applications may be possible, but students should contact Prof. Minervini to determine if a late application is possible. 

BILLING

When a student participates in a CC Half-Semester (two-block) program, the tuition remains the same as the standard CC tuition for that semester, and the program fee charge varies, based on the student's on-campus housing assignment and meal plan choice for that semester.

Students with Fall on-campus housing & standard meal plan:  No program fee

Students with Fall on-campus housing & apartment meal plan: $1,112 program fee.

Students with Fall on-campus housing & no meal plan: $1,363 program fee.

Students living off-campus for Fall Semester: $2,805 program fee

Details on the Spring 2028 CC in Italy Program, including course offerings and college requirement fulfillment, will be released during the 2026 Fall Semester, with applications going live on Summit in November of 2026.

Early applications for the 2-block program are recommended. All applications should be completed on Summit no later than October 1, 2027.
