The goal of this course is to study symmetry patterns from a mathematical perspective using the stunning examples from Moorish art and architecture in the Andalusia region of Spain as motivation. We will give a complete classification of frieze and wallpaper patterns and apply this mathematical language to the tiling, art, and architecture surroundings us. The course is based in Granada with overnight trips to Seville and Cordoba. Come experience the beauty of southern Spain and learn how to express this beauty mathematically!
