The Common Application was created roughly 40 years ago by a group of colleges seeking to make the application process easier. Along with nearly 700 other institutions, Colorado College accepts the Common App--one of three applications we recognize--in our application process. If you have questions about which application to use in applying to CC, please review our site and learn more about the methods: Common Application, Coalition Application, and QuestBridge Application. We review all three with the same holistic standards in place, and no one method offers an advantage over the others.
The Common Application offers the following:
- Students enter personal information only once, and the applicable sections of all their Common App will populate.
- An easy way to search and view college options within the application.
- A streamlined process for submitting transcripts, letters of recommendation, and counselor letters.
As with the Coalition Application and QuestBridge Application, students using the Common Application will be required to complete one Colorado College-specific supplementary essay in order to apply. The prompt is:
Why do you want to join the Colorado College community, and how do you think you will contribute to it? (200 words)
