SP306 - Approaches to Literature and Culture in the Hispanic World
Through a panoramic approach, this course offers an introduction to critical analysis of cultural productions of the Spanish-speaking world. Students will engage in close reading and analysis of literary and visual texts, such as short stories, poems, plays, films, songs, or dance. We will study the historical and social context in which these works were produced to gain a general but solid idea of genres and representative cultural movements. This course provides the foundation for upper-division courses in the department. Meets the Critical Learning: AIM requirement. Meets the Language Requirement requirement.
Prerequisite: 305 or equivalent.
