Class of 2017 Endowment

The Class of 2017 Inspires Generosity

Colorado College’s Class of 2017 is uniquely positioned to make a difference for current and future CC students. Inspired by the Class of 2017’s participation in Senior Class Gift, an anonymous donor created an endowment totaling $566,000 — $1,000 for each member of the class — to motivate sustained giving to any fund at Colorado College.

Each year, earnings from the endowment are directed to CC. By giving back, you are joining fellow 2017 alums in strengthening the impact of the 2017 Endowment and making a difference for current and future CC students. Choose the area of the college you wish to support and the earnings from the endowment will follow. The last distribution from the endowment provided $42,000 in earnings for CC and was distributed according to the areas supported by members of the class.

You may choose to make a Colorado College education more accessible by supporting funds that enable students from under-resourced communities to attend CC. You may choose to provide valuable faculty resources for engaged teaching and research on the Block Plan. The possibilities are many, and it's up to you and your fellow classmates to maximize the extraordinary impact of the Class of 2017 Endowment.

What is an Endowment Fund?

Endowments are funds held in perpetuity and invested. The intent is to preserve the original value of the gift and grow it over time. Each year, a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose. Any earnings in excess of this annual distribution build the fund’s value. In this way, an endowment provides an ongoing stream of income for all time.

  9% = Annual Fund for Financial Aid

  7% = Antiracism at Colorado College Fund

  4% = Colorado Pledge Endowed Scholarship

  4% = International Student Assistance Fund

  3% = Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund

  3% = Environmental Sciences Department Discretionary Fund

  15% = Other
