Alejandro Vieira earned his master of music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a bachelor of music degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. He joined the Colorado Springs Symphony, now the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, in January 2001. His teachers include William Winstead, Linda Harwell, Phillip Kolker, Denis Michel, Manuel Zegler, and David Fedderly.
Alex is also a member of the United States Air Force Academy Band, and currently serves as principal bassoonist of the Concert Band and of the Academy Winds woodwind quintet. He has been featured as a soloist with the Concert Band and the Academy Winds as well as a featured recitalist in the band's Chamber Recital Series. Alex maintains an active teaching studio in Colorado Springs and is currently the bassoon instructor at Colorado College.
