Mónica Sánchez holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of New Mexico. She has followed her bliss throughout a life in the theatre and the theatre of life. Over 30 years she has honed the craft of professional actor (SAG/AFTRA, AEA); written and devised work collaboratively and independently for the stage; directed a handful of productions small and large; and enjoyed a myriad of assignments as a teaching artist and community engagement facilitator with diverse and intergenerational communities. Writing credits include: Los Dreamers, From the Chronicles of Odisia Sánchez, Go, Go Gentle and The Gentry: 10 Minutes for Alex Nieto. As an actor she has worked extensively in California with El Teatro Campesino, San Francisco Mime Troupe, The Magic Theatre, Eureka, Word for Word, Thick Description, Intersection for the Arts, Campo Santo, Latino Theatre Lab, Cornerstone, South Coast Rep, Company of Angels and Playwrights Arena. Film and Television credits include: The Closer, Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, House of Cards, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Frontera and the role of "Dolores Huerta" in Julie Taymor's biopic, The Glorias: My Life on the Road.
