Katrina (Kat) Miller-Stevens earned her undergraduate Liberal Arts degree in History from Colorado State University in 1999. Her graduate studies include a Master of Nonprofit Management degree from Regis University in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado Denver in 2010. Prior to joining Colorado College in 2016, she taught for six years in the School of Public Service at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Before that, she worked in the nonprofit sector for ten years as a budget coordinator, grants manager, and program evaluator. She is also a proud AmeriCorps alumna.
Katrina's interdisciplinary research bridges the areas of public policy, social impact, and nonprofit studies. Her research explores the ways in which social movements and collaborations create social change to influence policymakers, powerful industries, and institutions. She is especially interested in leadership and governance issues. Recently, she has taken on a new research agenda as the Director of the State of the Rockies Project where she explores social movements, policy debates, and political battles related to hydraulic fracturing in the Rocky Mountain West.
Thesis students might enjoy working with Kat on topics related to business management, leadership, strategy, and governance.
