Katrina (Kat) Miller-Stevens earned her undergraduate Liberal Arts degree in History from Colorado State University in 1999. Her graduate studies include a Master of Nonprofit Management degree from Regis University in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado Denver in 2010. Prior to joining Colorado College in 2016, she taught for six years in the School of Public Service at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Before that, she worked in the nonprofit sector for ten years as a budget coordinator, grants manager, and program evaluator. She is also a proud AmeriCorps alumna.
Kat's interdisciplinary research bridges the areas of public policy, social impact, and nonprofit studies. Her research explores how collaborations influence social change, policymakers, powerful industries, and institutions. She is especially interested in governance issues.
Thesis students might enjoy working with Kat on topics related to business and nonprofit management, the impacts of public policy on society, nonprofit and corporate governance, and athletics-related business topics.
Along with her work in the Economics and Business Department, Kat is also one of the Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR) for the College. In this role, Kat enjoys working with student athletes, faculty, and the Athletics Department on academic issues relevant to the student athletes.
