Patrizia Herminjard is a Swiss-born choreographer, filmmaker, dancer, and educator whose work centers on embodied practice and the creative possibilities that emerge through uncertainty. As a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Colorado College (Class of 1996), Herminjard teaches courses including Video Dance, The Body in Motion, ChoreoLab, and all levels of Contemporary Dance Technique while creating choreography, screendance, and interdisciplinary performance works.
Her artistic practice, shaped by the mentorship of Yunyu Wang, Pearl Lang, Donald McKayle, and Eiko Otake, is grounded in building shared spaces of inquiry where movement, play, and curiosity become catalysts for transformation. Through her creative and educational work, Herminjard invites artists and students to trust their own perspectives and discover how embodied awareness and collaboration can transform the way we engage with ourselves and one another.
Her screendance works have been presented at the Dance on Camera Festival, Dance Camera West Dance Media Festival, San Francisco Dance Film Festival, and Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema. Her choreography has received the Pikes Peak Arts Council Award for Excellence in Choreography, and she has served on the board of the American College Dance Association.
Herminjard also served as Director of Cinematic Engagement for the International Museum of Dance (IMOD), advancing access to dance cinema through public programming. Committed to international artistic exchange, she co-produced the Moving Southwest Dance Festival in Santa Fe for IMOD and directed the Colorado College Dance Festival, bringing together contemporary artists from Taiwan and the United States. As a performer, she toured nationally with the Martha Graham Dance Ensemble and has taught in Canada, China, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
