Shazia Ali holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from The Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Shazia is currently a professor at Pikes Peak Community College and The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where she teaches theory, ear-training, music technology, music appreciation and private piano instruction, as well as works with students as an accompanist for juries, recitals, and other college related performances. Shazia also serves as the Director of Music at First Baptist Church in Colorado Springs and is an active member of the American Music Society. Shazia has also performed in Urbino, Italy and participates in several state competitions as an adjudicator and/or accompanist for students. With a distinct focus on diversifying curriculum and repertoire, Shazia is the first recipient of the Diverse Faculty Fellowship Grant at PPCC where she continues her research and work on diversity, equity and inclusion in music.
