Dick Koc

Education

As an undergraduate he attended South Dakota State University, majoring in German and minoring in History and Music. Upon completion of his B.A. he received a Fulbright Scholarship for a year of study at the University of Hamburg. He did his graduate work at Stanford University (M.A., 1974; Ph.D., 1981), interspersed with extended stays in Europe (in Bonn, Berlin, and Vienna). He wrote his dissertation on the German society novel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on the works of Fontane and Keyserling.
