Theories of Migration

This course introduces students to key theories, mechanisms, and geographies of migration from various disciplines. The readings and discussions will focus on the analysis of the causes of internal and transnational migration flows as well as their consequences for the social, economic, political, diplomatic, and cultural dimensions of human experience in the past and in our time. The course will distinguish between the individual's motives and desires to move and the structural changes and events that encourage movement. 1 unit. (Not offered 2022-23).
