Connect to a Printer

  1. Open the Apple menu and select "System Preferences."
  2. Select "Print & Scan." and click "+" to add a printer.
  3. Hold the "Control" key on the keyboard, and click the empty space in the toolbar.  From the small menu which comes up, choose "Customize toolbar"
  4. Click and drag the "Advanced" sprocket onto the toolbar and click "done"
  5. Click the new "Advanced" option you just added, and wait for it to load (about 10 seconds).
  6. Pull down the "Type" dropdown box and change it from "Fax" to "Windows printer"
  7. In the main section labeled URL, type smb://print.coloradocollege.edu/papercut
  8. Change the "Name" field to papercut as well (recommended but not required, name it what you wish)
  9. Click the "Use" dropdown and choose generic PCL printer.
  10. Check "Duplex Printing Unit" when asked to note that the printer is capable of double sided printing.
  11. The first time you print, it will ask for your username and password.  It will autofill the wrong username (firstlast).  Make sure you change this to "coloradocollege.edu\" followed by your CC network username and passsword (f_last).
    1. Example: coloradocollege.edu\j_doe

  1. Click on the "Start Menu." or the magnifying glass icon if Windows 8.
  2. In the search box, type "cmd."
  3. In the command prompt, type: start\\print.coloradocollege.edu\papercut 
  4. Hit, "Enter," on your keyboard to process the command.
  5. Wait for the system to add your printer. 
  6. When asked for a username and password, use your CC network account username in this format: coloradocollege\username. 
    1. Make sure you check the box that says "Remember credentials."
  7. That's it!  Print to Papercut, and then release your job at any papercut-enabled printer with your gold card.
