NSF Young Scholars Program

In 1992 and 1993, Professor Mike Siddoway ran a three-week summer workshop at Colorado College for high school students, funded by the National Science Foundation, with Reinhard laubenbacher of New Mexico State University. The 22 students who participated each year were from across the country and primarily between their junior and senior high school years. The aim of the program was to encourage students to develop interest and enthusiasm for mathematics by studying selected great problems using original sources. The ability of primary source material to engage students' attention and spur their efforts was dramatically evident.
