For years, the nondescript J’s Motel occupied a site just south of campus on Nevada Avenue. In spring 2005, Colorado College leased the motel, and gave the rooms and grounds a facelift. By the beginning of the academic year, the transition from J’s Motel to the CC Inn was nearly complete.

About half of the rooms serve as student housing. Students moving in were pleased to find new mattresses, a fresh coat of paint, and a refrigerator and microwave in each room. Because they were part of the former motel, the new “dorm” rooms also feature private bathrooms. Original art was provided by artist-in-residence Marshall Kean of the advancement division, and many rooms have CC-themed memorabilia.

Rooms not used for students have been set aside for CC friends and family who visit campus. The CC Inn is open throughout the year for family and friends of CC staff and students who need overnight lodging. (However, the facility is already booked solid for Commencement.)
