William Davis

Curriculum Vitae

William Davis has been at Colorado College since 1993, first as a visiting professor in Humanities, then as a member of the Comparative Literature Program and the Department of German.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature and German. He teaches all levels of German language and a variety of Comparative Literature courses, with an emphasis on the Romantic period and literary theory.

His scholarship focuses largely on the Romantic period, with emphasis on relations between German and British Romanticism, as well as on connections between philosophy and literature.  He has also published on issues of literary theory and currently works on connections between technology and cultural production.

After receiving a BA in Comparative Literature at Brigham Young University, he studied at Stanford University, where he received an MA in German Studies and a PhD in German Studies and Humanities.  He also did work towards the PhD in the Comparative Literature Department at Harvard University, and as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Düsseldorf.
