Marc Acito ,author of “How I Paid for College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship, and Musical Theater,” returned to campus in June as part of CC’s Summer Festival of the Arts. He performed a cabaret-style reading showcasing moments from his novel. • Juliette Jack Banerjee and her husband, Somak, live in the Washington, D.C., metro area with their son, Orion Anand, who was born on Jan. 27, 2005. Juliette received her M.A. in 1998 from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of International Studies. • Susan Klein took her final vows to become Dominican Sister Anne Frances, O.P., Aug. 8 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. She has a nursing degree from Minnesota’s St. Scholastica and currently teaches fourth grade at a convent school in Birmingham, Ala. • Sarah Voorhees lives with her husband, Michael, and sons, William and Jackson, in San Jose, Calif. She teaches Spanish at Saratoga High School.

John Birkeland is the director of commercial services for Springwood Commercial Realty in York, Pa. • Celia Brooks Brown has published a 300-page, 230-recipe cookbook, “World Vegetarian Classics,” adapting cuisine from around the world for preparation in modern kitchens. • Amy Hempe will take a leave of absence from teaching English in Denver public schools to focus on a few projects, one of which is a documentary film about Ultimate Frisbee in Eastern Europe. • Jonathan Goldstein and Matty Lau were married June 19 in New York City’s Central Park. Alumna Caren Benjamin attended this “Judeo-Cantonese extravaganza” and “ate a lot of Chinese food at the banquet.” • Dory Solzman-Rodriguez is a financial advisor for GCG Financial in Oak Brook, Ill. • Gilbert Walker is a program manager for Bellsouth Long Distance. • Susanne Wunner and Bradford Fitch were married March 19 in Washington, D.C. Colin Goodwin reports that he is currently a “housedad” living in Boulder, Colo. • Peter Fritz recently started a new position with the data and research unit of the Colorado Department of Education. He lives in Conifer, Colo., with his wife, Stephany, and their 2-year-old daughter, Ella. He would love to hear from classmates and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity brothers living in the Denver area.
Christopher Kishiyama is a pediatric endocrinology fellow at the Children’s Hospital in Denver. • William Moss recently completed an anesthesiology residency in Richmond, Va., and accepted a position with a Fort Collins, Colo., practice. He, his wife, Marjorie, and his 16-month-old daughter, Madison, are very excited about living in Colorado. • Susan Patrick was unanimously selected president and chief executive officer of the North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) effective Sept. 6. NACOL is an international organization focused on enhancing and promoting high-quality K-12 online learning. • Mandy Gibson Shoemaker is the new principal of Sunset Ridge Elementary in Overland Park, Kan. • Miles White received his doctorate in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington-Seattle. He will teach three courses at CC as a visiting professor and Riley Scholar-in-Residence for the music department while working on his first academic book. • Having received her M.B.A. from Regis University in 1997, Deborah Scarpa Varga now works for Fiserv Investment Support Services in Denver.

Frances Austin lives in Macon, Ga., with her husband, Jay Totty, and her two sons, 7-year-old August and 2-year-old Owen. • Erin Trampler Bell and her husband, Dave ’94, have moved back to Colorado after eight years in Boston. Since their return, Dave has become choir director of Denver’s St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, and Erin is active in the local theater scene. The couple has “already reconnected with several CC alumni living in the area, and look forward to the possibility of running into others.” • Taylor Reynolds is a Ph.D. candidate in the pathobiology program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. • Ashley Whittaker lives in Portland, Ore., with her husband, Wilson, and 4-year-old son, Finnegan. • Carrie Wismer Yakola received her M.B.A. from Northwestern State University in 2002 and currently works for Wells Fargo in Chicago as vice president and team lead. She and her husband, Douglas, live in Zionsville, Ind.

Greg is a freelance writer and Beth is the creative director of Mountain Sports Media in Boulder, Colo. • Timothy Harman recently began his year as chief resident in orthopedic surgery at the Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He has also accepted a fellowship for hand and microsurgical training with the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, Md., scheduled to begin in August 2006. • In addition to pursuing her M.A. in public administration at the University of New Mexico, Sonlatsa Jim-James Martin works as a consultant in the nonprofit field. She lives in Gallup, N.M., with her husband, Bobby, and their three children. • Kim Marsh Read has recorded an album with Bob Read and David Walsh.The album, “instant confidante,” is a collection of post-modern, classically influenced instrumental rock songs. Kim and Bob live in Portland, Ore., with their children, 6-year-old Riley and 3-year-old Rosa. • Cassie Roberts is an ultrasound technologist living in Kansas City, Mo. • In addition to staying at home with her two sons, ages 4 and 1, Amanda Spencer-Wilczynski has been working part time as a school social worker. She, her husband, sons, and three dogs live in Northern Vermont and would love to hear from any CC alumni who live in or around the Burlington area.

Jay finished medical school and is now completing his residency in emergency medicine at Yale University. • Ashwin Budden is a doctoral student at the University of California-San Diego. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in anthropology-psychology and cognitive science. • Elizabeth DeWinter and Seth Brennan were married March 22, 2003, in Waitsfield, Vt. received her J.D. from New York’s Cornell University in 2000. She and her husband, David Scott Warner, were married in November 2002. • Jason Morgan-Foster has been selected to participate in a prestigious program at the International Court of Justice at The Hague. Only nine law schools were eligible to submit nominees, with one nominee selected from each school. Jason will represent the University of Michigan and will serve as a clerk on the World Court. • Sarah Gibb was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in the spring and has moved to Orange County, Calif., where she develops curricula on spirituality, ethics, and social concerns for adults. • Mary Kocman and Josh Cohen ’98 were married May 15 in Santa Ana, Calif. Mary’s brother, Rudy Kocman ’86, was in attendance. Josh is pursuing a master’s in psychology, and Mary works for the Palos Verdes Library District in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. • Jeffrey Lee is pursuing his M.B.A. at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. • Mary Kay Meintzer is a children’s counselor with Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence in Lafayette, Colo. • Jamie Roberts has returned to Washington, D.C., and joined the senior staff of Chorus America as the director of programs.

Joel Banslaben is the executive director of the Coastal Marine Resource Center of New York. He and his wife of two years, Rachel Cardone, live in Brooklyn, N.Y. • Timothy Buxton is a healthcare billing consultant for Precyse Solutions in Wayne, Pa. • Kate Raker Forth lives in Victor, Idaho, with her husband and new son, William. She is a horse trainer at the Grove Creek Lodge & Stable. • Carter Gehman is pursuing his M.S. at Colorado State University. He lives in Fort Collins, Colo., with his wife, Melanie. • In fall 2004, Sophia Malkasian completed a dual master’s degree in international affairs and business administration. She went on to an internship in Jakarta, Indonesia, and subsequently to a consulting job in Washington, D.C. While there, Sophia discovered “an opportunity to fulfill her heart’s desire to connect with the homeland of her great-grandparents.” She is now serving in Armenia for at least one year as a volunteer with the Armenian Volunteer Corps. • Anne Nichols is teaching second grade in California’s Bay Area and finishing her master’s in children’s literacy at Hollins University. • Jeffrey Phillips is a senior manager in the network providers division for Earthlink in Pasadena, Calif. He now lives in Pasadena with his wife, Katie, and 2-year-old son, Sam. • Domenick Scioli recently moved back to the U.S. after working for six years in Munich, Germany; Paris; and Lausanne, Switzerland; for Philip Morris International in international brand management. He now lives in Philadelphia, where he is studying at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies. Domenick is enrolled in a dual-degree program, simultaneously pursuing an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and an M.A. in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts and Sciences. He plans to graduate in May 2007.

In June, Jonathan Anderson was named chief counsel to Colorado Governor Bill Owens. Jonathan received his B.A. in political science from CC and his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law. He was working as an attorney with Hale Friesen; before that, he served as the deputy chief counsel to Owens. • Aaron Brown is the director of academics for Kaplan Test Prep’s new West region. • Ian Curry completed the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, receiving his M.P.S. in May. He currently works as a design analyst for Frog Design in Albany, N.Y. • In May, Guy Hagen received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Colorado State University. He is now working with the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany. • This July, Marjorie King and Chris Hay were married in Lutsen, Minn. • Josh Hayes completed his Ph.D. in philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York City and currently teaches philosophy at DeAnza College in Cupertino, Calif. • Julie Meiser and Robert Rioux Jr. were married Feb. 12 in Manchester, Conn. • Kirsten Melbye and Clint Wall were married July 3 in Boulder, Colo. He also received the Committee of Student Representatives Outstanding Graduating Medical Student Award, which honors a fourth-year student who truly benefits the community around him. • Tim Schultz writes: “I’m going to need all of you to settle down. Lily received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in May, and has been appointed judicial law clerk for the 2005-2006 term for Judge Michael E. Vigil of the New Mexico Court of Appeals in Santa Fe, N.M. • Shannon Anderson and Evan Bilstrom were married Aug. 28, 2004, in Parkdale, Ore. Shannon is a firefighter with Portland Fire and Rescue. • Emily Jemison Francis is a graduate student in nursing at the University of Texas-Austin. • Kimm Buettner Lucas writes: “My husband [Tim] and I are celebrating our four-year anniversary this year and enjoying our life together in Denver. Our 19-month-old daughter is the center of our lives as she toddles around the house, exploring and playing.” • Heather Wood Mendoza is a family preservation specialist with Lakota Oyate Wakanyeja Owicakiyapi. • Daron Mueller and Laura Wright were married Aug. 3 in Boulder, Colo. This spring, Daron edited the Anne Waldman feature in Jacket Magazine with Alan Gilbert. • Cody Raisig has left Freeskier Magazine after five years as both senior editor and photo editor. He also sold his ski apparel start-up, Sublux Clothing. Cody currently lives in Denver, where he is a residential real estate broker with Coldwell Banker. • Crystal Rosenthal is pursuing her master’s in classics at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She lives in Superior, Colo., with her husband, Scott Gleeson ’99. • Mehdi Shelhamer recently graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and will start an internal medicine residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. • After spending the last year pursuing intensive meditation practice in the Theravadin tradition, Laura Sideman is directing the Tricycle Foundation, which offers meditation instruction to prisoners and publishes Tricycle: The Buddhist Review. Walter Stapleton is a musician in Nashville, Tenn. • Kari Thompson graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in May 2005 and began her general surgery residency at the University of California-San Diego in June. • Amy Timms is a project engineer with Okland Construction in Salt Lake City. • Mark Weingarten is a music teacher and outreach assistant with Ethos in Portland, Ore. • Abigail Washburn released her debut album, “Song of the Traveling Daughter,” in August. “It is an old-fashioned album with a simple, textured beauty,” featuring an eclectic mix of old-time Appalachian mountain music, ragtime blues, bluegrass, and several tracks written and sung in Chinese. • Kathryn Jenkins Wright is a Latin teacher for Elmbrook Schools in Brookfield, Wis.
