Their Oct. 16 fundraiser and alumni event in Austin, Texas, was originally scheduled for an earlier date, but had to be rescheduled due to the oncoming storm. Jesse Lowes and Francesca Doriss ’03 have been living and working as English teachers in Gyeongju, South Korea, since August 2005. While they are continually fascinated by Korean culture, the mysteries of Korean language remain elusive to them. Their taste for kimchi “has grown to the point of addiction,” and visiting temples and communing with granite hilltop Buddhas number among their favorite weekend pleasures. Their future plans include “all or none of the following”: travels through Japan, Mongolia, and China, among other places; grad school (“someday”); and settling down (“whatever that may mean”). • Menelek Lumumba is the assistant dean of admission at Occidental College in Los Angeles. • Sara Luther is a foreign-service officer with the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. • Adair Stevenson is working at a geotechnical engineering firm in South Carolina, Southern Mechanical Engineering. She is a staff professional in the construction materials testing department, where she “basically hangs out on construction sites and makes sure that the materials they are using are suitable for building.” She also spends time in the office writing reports and proposals. She moved back to South Carolina to be with her family, and lives with her two “wonderful” dogs.
